First Blood (1982), directed by Ted Kotcheff, launched the franchise with the story of a troubled Vietnam veteran pushed to the brink in a small-town Pacific Northwest confrontation, co-starring Richard Crenna and Brian Dennehy. Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), directed by George P. Cosmatos and co-written by James Cameron, sends Rambo back to Vietnam on a mission to locate American POWs. Rambo III (1988), directed by Peter MacDonald, follows Rambo into Afghanistan to rescue his captured mentor Colonel Sam Trautman. All three are Lionsgate 1080p high-definition releases presented in 16x9 widescreen.
