Description
Planet of Dinosaurs is a 1977 cult science-fiction film produced and directed by James K. Shea from a screenplay by Ralph Lucas. After a runaway reactor destroys the spaceship Odyssey, nine survivors crash-land in an escape shuttle on an uncharted prehistoric planet light-years from any known civilization. Their number is soon reduced as they battle carnivorous creatures swarming the planet's surface, vowing to stay alive and build a new civilization against all odds. The film stars James Whitworth, Pamela Bottaro, Louie Lawless, Harvey Shain, Charlotte Speer and Chick Pennington, and is best known for its impressive stop-motion animation headed by Douglas Beswick, work that earned it the Science Fiction Film Award.
