Description
Custer's Last Fight on VHS, released by The Old Army Press of Fort Collins, Colorado, in 1985. This is the early silent dramatization of the Battle of the Little Bighorn, produced as a "101" Bison Film by the New York Motion Picture Co. Producer Thomas Ince made the film in 1912. The Old Army Press packaging calls it the earliest surviving film of Custer's Last Stand. The version on this tape is the 1925 re-release of the 1912 Ince film. That version adds two reels and new story boards and includes a taped introduction by Mike Koury. According to the packaging, Francis Ford, John Ford's older brother, appears in the cast. The film depicts the division of the troops under Major Reno, Captain Benteen and General Custer, the Indian "Circle of Death," the Last Stand on the hill, and the death of Sitting Bull. Running time is 45 minutes. The tape comes in a clear plastic clamshell case with reproduction vintage handbill-style artwork on the front, back and inner panel. The cassette label is marked "© Old Army Press 1985 (New Material)."
