Description
Condition
Unit does not power on. Includes one 5.25” floppy drive (upper bay) and a blank expansion cover (lower bay). The case shows age-related discoloration, scratches, and a crack on the side (see photos). Despite the crack, the keyboard still locks into place securely, and all feet are present. No power cord is included. There is some gapping in the side panels, so it appears it may have been previously opened. We have not opened it and are selling as is.

Description
This listing is for a Compaq Portable (Model 1, released 1983), the very first computer released by Compaq and a landmark in IBM PC-compatible history. The Compaq Portable was one of the earliest “luggable” PCs, featuring a built-in green CRT display, suitcase-style chassis, and detachable keyboard.
This machine comes with original documentation and media, adding collector value:
• Compaq Portable Operations Guide (binder with tabbed sections)
• Compaq MS-DOS 3.31 startup and operating disks
• Compaq User Programs Disk (v5.06)
Even though this unit does not currently power on, it remains an excellent candidate for restoration, display, or collection, especially with its original manual and system disks intact. These extras are rarely found alongside the hardware today.
